Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC): Fundamentals

Overview

Course description

This course covers the fundamentals of PLC Controllers and gives the learner a thorough understanding of the hardware, wiring, communication, and programming principles.

Topics covered include PLC Features, Basics ((Number systems, codes, logic functions), PLC Design, Hardware, IDE, Communication protocols, Programming Principles, Programming Bit Logic Operations, Programming Basic Instruction (Timers, Counters and Comparator), Analogue Operation (Hardware, Wiring and Configuration and Scaling Instructions) and Commissioning and Operational Safety.

The learner will perform the Hardware Configuration and Programming in our fully equipped training facility under the guidance of a specialist facilitator.

Learners Receive

The learner will be provided with:

  • A well designed learner guide.
  • Equipment and material, at our training centre, required to perform all the tasks during the course. (Panels and Programming devices such as Laptops and Desk tops).
  • Assessments will be performed throughout the course.
  • After completion of the course the learner will receive a certificate of competency.

Course Duration

There are two options available to the learner. The course can either be done as a full-time course or a part-time course. The times below are applicable.

Full Time:
4 days, Monday to Thursday (9:00 – 15:00)

Part Time:
2 Weekends, Saturday (9:00 – 14:00) and Sunday (9:00 – 13:00)
